FAQ

What is an Adult Day Care?

Adult day care centers are designed to provide compassionate care and companionship for disabled adults and older adults who need assistance or supervision during the day. Adult day care centers are non-residential centers thereby allowing your loved one to remain at home with the family. Adult day care centers support the health, nutritional, social and daily living needs of adults in a professionally staffed, group setting.

Adult day care programs offer peace of mind and relief to family members and caregivers, allowing them to go to work, handle personal business, or just relax knowing their loved one is well cared for and safe. The goal of the programs is to delay or prevent institutionalization by providing alternative care that enhances self-esteem, maintains dignity, encourages socialization with peers, and remedies isolation and loneliness that many experience. Arranging for a loved one to spend time in an adult day care can have beneficial effects on a caregiver’s wellbeing.

What activities do you offer?

We create a personalized plan of care and design activities by listening to and attending to each individual’s unique needs, interests, and abilities. Our centers have multiple rooms to allow our participants to remain independent and make their own decisions about participating in activities, book clubs, a variety of social clubs, relaxing in the quiet room, or watching movies in our onsite theatre room.

The programs and activities are structured, yet socially engaging, nurturing in a fun environment that enables our participants to avoid loneliness, to experience an overall improved quality of life, and to maintain dignity, meaning and sense of self-worth. We focus on maintaining our participant’s physical and mental health thereby enabling the participant to maintain as high a level of functioning as possible, ultimately allowing the participant to remain in their home surrounded by their loved ones as opposed to being institutionalized.

Aliviar Care’s experienced and diverse team is dedicated, hands-on and focused on the comfort and well-being of our participants. Activities are designed to engage our participants. We work with their needs. We are committed to collaborating and communicating with health care providers and other community, social service agencies.

Can a person who uses a mobility aid attend the center?

Yes, a person who uses a mobility aid such as a walker or cane or who may use a wheelchair can attend the center and participate in activities.

We have a certified and licensed team to care for individual needs such as continence and restroom care, mobility assistance, and assistance with eating. We also offer personal care services like showers.

Our team carefully considers the physical limitations and always focuses on preserving the dignity, comfort and health of the participant. Some participants may have certain limitations in their ability to perform basic functions. Our personal care services provide exceptional sensitivity and safety for participants with these limitations.

While traditional community senior centers can be a great place for healthy older people who don’t have major physical or cognitive disabilities to exercise or take classes, adult day care centers serve those who need more supervision and services.

We accept adults and seniors with cognitive impairments. Cognitive impairment is when a person has trouble remembering, learning new things, concentrating, or making decisions that affect their everyday life.

How do we schedule a tour or visit?

Our centers are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can call us at 407-476-5577 or CONTACT US to schedule your tour.

Do you offer transportation?

Participants who have Medicaid long-term care insurance may be able to schedule transportation to and from the center via the transportation vendor contracted by the insurance company.

We can also provide you with information about other transportation options such as Access Lynx and private transportation companies who may be able to provide transportation to and from the center.

How much does adult day care cost and who pays?

In the Orlando area, Medicaid Long Term Care insurance companies like WellCare, Simply, Florida Community Care, Aetna, Sunshine and Humana pay for adult day care services.

Aliviar Care accepts certain Medicaid long-term care insurances, private long-term care insurances and private pay. The daily cost at Aliviar Care, which includes meals, activities, and many more services, is much lower than the per-day cost at an Assisted Living Facility or daily cost of in-home companion care via a home health agency.

We encourage family members and caregivers to come with their loved one to tour our center so you can see firsthand all the services, activities, and amenities we provide as well as meet our caring, professional team.
